Yaoundé Choked by Waste: Melen and TKC Streets Turning into Dump Sites and Traffic Traps

In Yaoundé, especially in Melen and TKC, roadside waste dumping is worsening urban disorder. Piles of garbage are often seen along streets and junctions, creating unhealthy conditions for residents.

Authorities have previously attempted cleanup operations, but the situation only improves temporarily before returning to worse levels.This poor waste management is now degrading road conditions and contributing to traffic congestion by reducing available circulation space for vehicles and pedestrians.

As a result, movement is slowed and road safety is compromised. Beyond traffic issues, the growing waste problem also poses serious environmental and public health risks, highlighting the need for more sustainable and long-term solutions.
