Yaoundé University Hospital Concludes Free Hypertension Screening Campaign

The Yaoundé University Hospital (CHU) wrapped up its free health screening campaign on Friday, May 15, after days of testing residents for hypertension, diabetes, obesity, and conducting urine examinations.

On this final day, healthcare workers placed special emphasis on the dangers of high blood pressure, a condition widely known as the « silent killer » because it often presents no symptoms until severe complications arise. A dedicated medical team remained fully mobilized throughout the day to welcome, guide, and counsel the public.

The public health initiative aimed to encourage early detection of silent diseases and promote preventive health habits. Organizers repeatedly urged residents to seize the opportunity to know their health status and avoid complications linked to these conditions.
