The city of Ngaoundéré has reached a new milestone in its drive to modernize, installing its first-ever traffic lights at two key intersections. The signals have been placed at the Marhaba junction and the crossroads near the Vina bakery.

Although the lights are not yet operational, they are already drawing crowds. Residents, motorists, and passersby regularly pause to snap photos or record videos of what many see as a powerful symbol of the city’s development.Ahead of the official launch, municipal authorities have launched an awareness campaign to help road users adapt to the new traffic rules. The goal is to prepare both drivers and pedestrians for a more organized urban traffic flow.

The initiative is led by the Urban Community under the direction of Mayor Bobbo Salihou. It forms part of a broader beautification and modernization program that has been reshaping the city for several years.
