Students Showcase Research and Practical Work

The Scientific and Cultural Day of Students was held at the University of Yaoundé I, within the Faculty of Science. The event brought together students from several departments, including biological, biomedical, and technical fields. It aimed to present academic activities carried out in laboratories and classrooms.
At the Department of Plant Biology, students from the Club BOV (Biologie et Physiologie Végétales) set up a stand to present their work. Information panels outlined research units such as plant genetics, phytopathology, molecular biology, ecology, and environmental studies.

On display were various plant species, seedlings, and natural products. Students explained the use of plants in research and daily life. They also presented processed products, including fruit-based drinks and items derived from local agricultural resources. Some of these products were offered for tasting, allowing visitors to directly experience the results of student work.
The exhibition also highlighted the possibility of cultivating certain crops, such as strawberries, in the climate of Yaoundé. Students explained how specific varieties can adapt to local conditions. This presentation showed practical applications of agricultural knowledge and research carried out within the department.
Beyond the plant biology stand, other departments across the Faculty of Science presented experiments, laboratory demonstrations, and rapid tests. Some groups also displayed products developed from their research, including items for sale. Visitors moved across different stands to gather information about each field.

Overall, the event showed the link between academic training, research, and practical application. It also provided students with an opportunity to share knowledge and present their work to the university community and the public.
