The Pope arrived in Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport this Wednesday at approximately 2:57 PM, marking the beginning of his four-day apostolic visit to Cameroon. He was received by senior state officials, religious authorities, and members of the diplomatic corps in a solemn ceremony.
Following the reception, the Papal motorcade moved through major arteries of Yaoundé, drawing large crowds. The convoy then proceeded to the Unity Palace, where the Holy Father held talks with Paul Biya, alongside government officials, the diplomatic corps, and representatives of civil society.
On Thursday at 10:00 AM, the Pontiff departed Nsimalen for Bamenda, where he presided over a Holy Mass attended by thousands of faithful. He returned to Yaoundé before continuing to Douala on Friday for further pastoral activities, including another major public Mass in Japoma Stadium.
At the close of his visit, the Pope was seen off at Nsimalen International Airport by the Prime Minister, Joseph Dion Ngute, alongside a college of bishops, administrative authorities, Christians, and well-wishers, as he departed Cameroon for Angola. The visit, marked by strong public participation, emphasized peace, unity, and cooperation between the Holy See and Cameroon.
